Summer 2022
Beyond Binary is the 2022 summer exhibition for the Fine Arts Gallery at San Francisco State, that focuses on the explorations of gender spectrums, across cultures and generations, in the formation of personal and collective identities and visual narratives. Beyond Binary celebrates trans and gender-nonconforming artists who engage the body as both a form and site of social sculpture who challenge established narratives of art and history to become more inclusive.

Non-Conforming Visuals
Through building up a visual narrative that sought to communicate with the main topic of the exhibition — gender-nonconforming artists and their experiences as people, as well as artists — the following wordmark and graphic center piece gives not only life to the exhibition, but also asks the onlooker, is society a group of people, spurred against each other by societal doctrines, or are we a vast group of individuals nurturing not only for each other, but also for the communities we live in?
